Kapwa Kultural Center and Café

About KAPWA

KAPWA Kultural Center and Cafe (KKC) is a wellness-focused social enterprise in North San Mateo County, serving primarily Filipina/x/o youth aged 16-24. It provides innovative programming that supports cultural identity and mental health/wellness education. KKC also functions as an intergenerational community center and cafe, celebrating Filipina/x/o culture.

KKC is the recipient of multi-year start-up funding from San Mateo County for innovative programs. Daly City Partnership provides support at various levels, including administrative, human resources, program and business development.

Partnership and Collaborative Impact

In 2021, Daly City Partnership began fiscal sponsorship of KKC. Over the past two years, they have collaborated to offer classes, seminars, workshops, job fairs, and internships/job placements. This partnership has expanded to include healthcare-related employment education and opportunities for youth, young adults and elders, reaching beyond the Filipino/a/x population to other underserved communities in San Mateo County.

The partnership actively engages the community by adapting and expanding services to meet the dynamic needs of Daly City’s diverse populations. Through joint initiatives, KKC and DCP actively involve community members in the development and refinement of programs, ensuring that their offerings not only address but also empower the community they serve. This active collaboration fosters a deeper community connection and enhances the overall impact of their services.
