Celebrating Martin Luther King’s Life Dr. King fought for equality and human rights for Black people. He is also well known for his speech, “I Have a Dream,” which he delivered during the March in Washington. In it, he said:“I have a dream that one day this nation will rise and live out the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.”He was highly influenced by Mahatma Gandhi’s non-violent approach to protests. This led Dr. King to write his six principles on non-violence. In his book, Stride Towards Freedom, King listed down his six principles of non-violence:A way of life for courageous peopleSeeks to win friendship and understandingSeeks to defeat injustice, not peopleHolds that suffering can educate and transformChooses love instead of hateBelieves that the universe is on the side of justiceSources:https://www.history.com/…/black…/martin-luther-king-jrhttps://www.thoughtco.com/martin-luther-king-jr-1779880https://kinginstitute.stanford.edu/…/six_principles_of…
